My wife is a certified elementary school teacher. She isn't teaching these days, working part-time at a local university instead to raise our young daughter full-time. However, I remember the long days she spent planning her lessons for her third grade class. She spent hours poring over her reading plans, carefully writing down her thoughts on how best to teach the english language arts to these youngsters. She planned it all: math, science, art, reading, writing, social studies, anything and everything related to the state standards for 3rd grade. Elementary teachers, I salute you. Whether you teach 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 4th grade, 5th grade, or 6th grade, you know you definitely have the most difficult and most rewarding job in the district. Hats off to our kindergarten teachers, too!
